Brand Advisory Group Seeking Advisors

In our last eNewsletter (June 2011) we announced that a new Niagara Original Brand Advisory Group had been formed. The Advisory Group is still in its early stages, but has been meeting regularly. The Advisory Group provides advice and recommendations to the the Brand Custodian & Administrator (Niagara Economic Development Corporation) to implement and further develop the Brand Strategy.

The Brand Advisory Group is currently seeking additional members. If you are interested in joining this group or getting involved in branding Niagara, please contact us for more information. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months as the Group develops.


'Best Practices Guide' in the Works

With input and support from the Brand Advisory Group, we are currently working on a Niagara Original 'Best Practices Guide'. The brand has been actively used over the past 2 ½ years (since its launch in November 2008) and we feel that we are in a timely position to review all the usage applications to date, and siphon them down into some best practices.

Currently there are some 170 identified brand users and we feel it is a great time to create a best practices document to help current and new users take the brand to the next level.

NEYA Submission Deadline & Niagara Original Award

The nominations deadline for the 18th annual Niagara Entrepreneur of the Year Awards is just around the corner on September 12, 2011. The search to find and recognize the very best entrepreneurs in the Niagara region will culminate with the award recipients being announced in February 2012. If you, or an entrepreneur you know, might be interested, please review the nomination form and details here >>

The Niagara Original Award Selection Committee will be meeting in the coming months to begin narrowing down candidates for the 2011 Award. The Niagara Original Award recognizes an outstanding NEYA Alumnus and honours innovation and imagination in Niagara. CRS Electronics was last year's winner, and Accipiter Radar Technologies Inc. was the inaugural Recipient.

The Niagara Social Project (NSP) recently sent out an eUpdate announcing an official sponsorship package, new Facebook page, and more! View the latest NSP Update here >>.

The NSP is an innovative music video and social media campaign that will engage Niagara’s businesses, organizations and residents to tell the story about Niagara. The goal of the project is to build global awareness of the Niagara region as a perfect location to live, work and play. The Niagara Original brand is being used extensively and innovatively in this project.

Reminder: Niagara Original 'Swag' Available

Get your swagger on! We have created a number of Niagara Original branded luggage tags, LED key chains, buttons and we also recently received a new order of our treasured red and gold coloured "n" lapel pins. You are welcome to request some 'swag' from us to show off your pride for Niagara. Or, you might consider ordering some branded swag for your own company as well.
